Jaws
The default biting mouth for meat eaters. Stack two or three on the front and you have a real hunter.
Jaws are how a carnivore actually eats what it kills. Your starting cell can nibble loose red food, but once you start chasing other cells you want proper jaws on the leading edge of your body, because that is the side that makes contact when you dash.
Players regularly run two or three sets side by side. One creator called his creature 'the triple jaw' and it carried him through the first few stages without much else. The catch: jaws do nothing if they point sideways or backwards, so check the preview after every edit.
Strengths
- Cheap way to add bite damage
- Lets carnivores eat kills
- Stacks well on a wide front
Weaknesses
- Only hits what is in front of you
- Useless if a drill or spike blocks the mouth
Pairs well with
Used in these builds
- Speed Hunter — Two jets, fins, jaws and horns up front. Catch anything smaller, outrun anything bigger.
